Femme Fatale Cosmetics Loose Mineral Eyeshadow

Femme Fatale Cosmetics is a Queensland-based indie makeup company. I’ve previously raved about their gorgeous nail polishes, and Sophie (the owner) has recently started selling other brands of indie polishes through her store, making Femme Fatale Cosmetics Australia’s first Llarowe-style distributor. Seriously, could this brand possibly get any better?

Apparently, it can. Femme Fatale actually started out with loose mineral eyeshadows, before expanding into nail polish. While the nail polish side has exploded in popularity, the eyeshadows are definitely not to be overlooked. The entire range consists of really unique, beautiful colours. I’ve been eyeing them off for a while, so I was really excited to receive a couple of samples to try out.

All these swatches are applied on a bare arm (no primer) using a foiling medium. They applied beautifully, and were quite pigmented even without the foiling medium.

Inscribe is a warm brown with a subtle hint of red and a slight, soft green duochrome. The green gives it a subtle pop of colour, but it’s not obvious or overwhelming. This is a really versatile shade and perfect for everyday wear.

Sandscale is a soft fawn/taupe/sandy brown with a warm golden shimmer. Another versatile shade that I can see myself wearing a lot.

Sour Suckerpop is really unique. It’s a pale lemon shade with a frosty blue duochrome finish. It’s quite sheer, and the blue tends to be more dominant than the base colour. On my skin, it looks more like a pale blue with a lemon yellow sheen.

Star Ruby is from the Gemtone collection, which was also made available as a set of nail polishes. It’s a translucent white base with a sparkly pink/red duochrome shift. It’s designed to be used as a subtle highlight shade. I personally found it a bit tricky to use, because if you apply it too heavily (as I did in the swatches), the white overwhelms the pink/red colour.

I think one of the best things about the store is that each eyeshadow has a “Recommended For” section in the description – perfect for eyeshadow newbies like me! It suggests ways to wear it (in the crease, as a highlight, etc) and other colours to pair it with. It’s also worth noting that they’re all vegan (if that’s your thing), apart from Sandscale. The ingredients and information are readily available on the product page.

These eyeshadows are available with worldwide shipping from Femme Fatale Cosmetics at a range of prices (AU$3.10-$5.85) for different sizes. Samples are only $1.10 and will last quite a few uses, giving you a good opportunity to try them out before committing to the full size product. There are so many colours available, so I highly recommend trying samples of all of them first.

What do you think of these unique colours? Have you tried any eyeshadows from Femme Fatale Cosmetics before?
